A digital nomad's haven in Chiang Mai - Cafe de Thaan Aoan
The Cafe interior where you can enjoy your cup of steaming cappuccino |
Biking around town of Chiang Mai for about 2 hours makes you sip that ice cold latte and wanna go to North Pole. While finding some good place to hang out and do some online work we were able to come across this cafe at the corner of a temple - the Cafe de Thaan Aoan.
Intricate carvings of their building's post |
This family-owned Cafe is located in the middle of Old Town, which is convenient if you’re planning some temple hopping in-between work and leisure. The interior is simple, old style and has more of a restaurant feeling then a cafe. The food is also more restaurant type, offering a wide choice of tasty Thai dishes.

There is an outside seating area that, due to its location at the crossing between two of the major streets in Old Town, can be too noisy and polluted to be able to work from for long hours. The inside is quiet enough and has soft background music. It also offers a few seating options; low sofas and taller, more appropriate, tables.
The internet is free and pretty fast. They have 3 hotspots which you can connect to - WIFI SSID and Password is just right on their tissue holder. Well internet speed? Download ranging from 6Mbps - 10Mbps, Upload speed about 2Mbps - 4Mbps.
